1. oklahoma bombing memorial prayer service address

william jefferson clinton

s: thank you very much, governor keating and mrs. keating, reverend graham, to the families of those who have been lost and wounded, to the people of oklahoma city, who have endured so much, and the people of this wonderful state, to all of you who are here as our fellow americans.

e: my fellow americans, a tree takes a long time to grow, and wounds take a long time to heal. but we must begin. those who are lost now belong to god. some day we will be with them. but until that happens, their legacy must be our lives.thank you all, and god bless you.

2. remarks at the brandenburg gate

ronald reagan

e: in the 1950s -- in the 1950s khrushchev predicted: we will bury you.

3. address on taking the oath of the u.s. presidency

gerald r. ford

s: mr. chief justice, my dear friends, my fellow americans:

the oath that i have taken is the same oath that was taken by george washington and by every president under the constitution. but i assume the presidency under extraordinary circumstances never before experienced by americans. this is an hour of history that troubles our minds and hurts our hearts.

e: with all the strength and all the good sense i have gained from life, with all the confidence of my family, my friends, and my dedicated staff impart to me, and with the good will of countless americans i have encountered in recent visits to 40 states, i now solemnly reaffirm my promise i made to you last december 6: to uphold the constitution; to do what is right as god gives me to see the right; and to do the very best i can for america.

god helping me, i will not let you down.

thank you.

4. energy and the national goals - a crisis of confidence

jimmy carter

s: this a special night for me. exactly three years ago, on july 15, 1976, i accepted the nomination of my party to run for president of the united states. i

promised you a president who is not isolated from the people, who feels your pain, and who shares your dreams, and who draws his strength and his wisdom from you. thank you and good night.

5. on vietnam and not seeking reelection

lyndon baines johnson

s: good evening, my fellow americans:

tonight i want to speak to you of peace in vietnam and southeast asia. no other question so preoccupies our people. no other dream so absorbs the 250 million human beings who live in that part of the world. no other goal motivates american policy in southeast asia.

e: accordingly, i shall not seek, and i will not accept, the nomination of my party for another term as your president. but let men everywhere know, however, that a strong and a confident and a vigilant america stands ready tonight to seek an honorable peace; and stands ready tonight to defend an honored cause, whatever the price, whatever the burden, whatever the sacrifice that duty may require.thank you for listening. good night and god bless all of you.

6. cambodian incursion address

richard m. nixon

s: good evening, my fellow americans. ten days ago, in my report to the nation on vietnam, i announced the decision to withdraw an additional 150,000 americans from vietnam over the next year. i said then that i was making that decision despite our concern over increased enemy activity in laos, in cambodia, and in south vietnam. and at that time i warned that if i concluded that increased enemy activity in any of these areas endangered the lives of americans remaining in vietnam, i would not hesitate to take strong and effective measures to deal with that situation. despite that warning, north vietnam has increased its military aggression in all these areas, and particularly in cambodia.

e: the possibility of winning a just peace in vietnam and in the pacific is at stake.it is customary to conclude a speech from the white house by asking support for the president of the united states. tonight, i depart from that precedent. what i ask is far more important. i ask for your support for our brave men fighting tonight halfway around the world, not for territory, not for glory, but so that their younger brothers and their sons and your sons can have a chance to grow up in a world of peace, and freedom, and justice.

thank you, and good night.

anita hill

s: my name is anita f. hill, and i am a professor of law at the university of oklahoma. i was born on a farm in okmulgee county, oklahoma, in 1956. i am the youngest of 13 children. i had my early education in okmulgee county. my father, albert hill, is a farmer in that area. my mothers name is irma hill. she is also a farmer and a housewife.

e: i urge you, i urge you to put the peoples airwaves to the service of the people and the cause of freedom. you must help prepare a generation for great decisions. you must help a great nation fulfill its future.

最普通的结尾就是:thank you very much for your attention。

范例:

ladies and gentlemen , good afternoon! im very glad to stand here and give you a short speech. today my topic is “youth”。

i hope you will like it , and found the importance in your youth so that more cherish it.

first i want to ask you some questions:

1、 do you know what is youth?

2、 how do you master your youth?

youth

youth is not a time of life, it is a state of mind ; it is not rosy cheeks , red lips and supple knees, it is a matter of the emotions : it is the freshne; it is the freshneof the deep springs of life .

youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity of the appetite , for adventure over the love of ease. this often exists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20 . nobody grows old merely by a number of years . we grow old by deserting our ideals.

years wrinkle the skin , but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul . worry , fear , self –distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust .

whether 60 of 16 , there is in every human being s heart the lure of wonders, the unfailing childlike appetite of whats next and the joy of the game of living . in the center of your heart and my heart theres a wirelestation : so long as it receives messages of beauty , hope ,cheer, courage and power from men and from the infinite, so long as you are young .

when the aerials are down , and your spirit is covered with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you are grown old ,even at 20 , but as long as your aerials are up ,to catch waves of optimism , there is hope you may die young at 80. thank you!

如“i cannot forget her” (我忘不了她)的结尾:
after her death,i felt as if something were missing in my life. i was sad over

her passing away, but i knew she would not have had any regrets at having given her

life for the benefit of the people.

如“i love my home town”

i love my home town, and i love its people. they too have changed. they are going

all out to do more for the good of our motherland.

如“fishing”(钓鱼)的结尾:i caught as many as twenty fish in two hours, but my brother caught many more.

tired from fishing,we lay down on the river bank, bathing in the sun. we returned

home very late.

如“a day

evening came before we realized it. we put down our sickles and looked at each

other. our clothes were wet with sweat, but on every face there was a smile.

如“should

we learn to do housework?”(我们要不要学做家务?)

everyone should learn to do housework. don’t you agree, boys and girls?

如“let’s go in for sports”(让我

们参加体育运动)的结尾:as we have said above, sports can be of great value. they not only make people

live happily but also help people to learn virtues and do their work bettter. a sound

mind is in a sound body. let’s go in for sports.

记叙文和描写文经常采用自然结尾的方法;

do you know that women’s brains are smaller than men’s? normally the women’

s brain weighs 10% less than men’s. since research has shown that the bigger the

brain, the cleverer the animal, men must be more intelligent(聪明的) than women.

right? wrong. men and women always score similarly on intelligence tests, despite

the difference in brain size. why? after years of study, researchers have concluded

that it’s what’s inside that matters, not just the size of the brain. the brain

is made up of “grey matter” and “white matter”. while men have more of the white

matter, the amount(数量)of “thinking” brain is almost the same in both men and

women.

there are other important differences between two sexes(性别). as white matter

is the key to spatial(空间的)tasks, men know better where things are in relation

to other things. “a great footballer always knows where he is in relation to the

other players, and he knows where to go,” says one researcher. that may explain one

of life’s great mysteries: why men refuse to ask for directions ? and women often

need to!

the differences begin when fetuses(胎儿)are about nine weeks old, which can

be seen in the action of children when they are very young. a boy would try to climb

a barrier before him or push it down while a girl would ask for help from others.

these brain differences also explain the fact that more men take up jobs that require

good spatial skills, while more women speech skills. it may all go back to our

ancestors, among whom women needed speech skills to take care of their babies and

men needed spatial skills to hunt, according to one research.

60. the passage is mainly about _______.a. ways of being more intelligent b. differences between men and women c. studies on brains between two sexes d. studies on white matter and grey matter 第二篇:2012东城二模c

different colours can affect us in many different ways; that’s according to verity

allen. in a new programme “colour me healthy”, verity looks at the ways that colours

can influence how hard we work and the choices we make. they can even change our

emotions and even influence how healthy we are.during the programme, verity studies eight different colours, two colours in each

part. she meets people who work in the colour industry, from people who design food

packages, to people who name the colours of lipsticks. some of the people she meets

clearly have very little scientific knowledge to prove their ideas, such as the

american “colour doctor” who believes that serious diseases can be treated

successfully by the use of coloured lights. however, she also interviews real

scientists who are studying the effects of green and red lights on mice, with some

surprising results.

overall, it’s an interesting show, and anyone who watches it will probably find

out something new. but because verity the programme, it’s up to you to make your

own decisions about how much you should believe.

56. what’s the passage mainly about?

a. how people use colours.b. how colours influence people. c. what happens in a programme.d. what makes a programme believable.

春天是不会来的。”对,第一次的发现都是出乎意料;
第一次足迹都令人骄傲;

极普通的钢笔,时常引发出我的串串思绪。开头---- 他那逝去的面容又清晰地浮现在我的脑海里;

没有帮人作弊;

开头---- “the elephant is only three years old(这只大象只有三岁)!“how lovely

it is!”
