A peasant in the state of Song led an extremely hard life for he was destitute, depending on worn sackcloth to defense the chill of winter.

After the spring arrived, the peasant ploughed in the field. When he got tired and rested on the ridge of the field he felt the sunshine to be warmer and more comfortable than the worn sackcloth.

He knew neither spacious nor comfortable houses to live in, nor silk, cotton and fur clothes to keep warm. He was very excited at his discovery, and he said to his wife, “Sun bath is so pleasant, but people do not know it. I will present this secret to the king, and he is sure to bestow many presents to me to reward my loyalty.”

One day the wind said to the sun, “Look at that man walking along the road. I can get his cloak off more quickly than you can.”

“We will see about that,” said the sun. “I will let you try first.”

So the wind tried to make the man take off his cloak. He blew and blew, but the man only pulled his cloak more closely around himself.

“I give up,” said the wind at last. “I cannot get his cloak off.” Then the sun tried. He shone as hard as he could. The man soon became hot and took off his cloak.

A poor farmer had a friend who was famous for thewonderful apple he grew.

One day, his friend gave the farmer a young appletree and told him to take it home and plant it.

The farmer was pleased with the gift, but when he got home he did not know where to plant it.

He was afraid that if he planted the tree near the road, strangers would steal the fruit. If heplanted the tree in one of his field, his neighbors would come at night and steal some of theapples. If he planted the tree near his house, his children would take the fruit.

Finally he planted the tree in his wood where no one could see it. But without sunlight and goodsoil, the tree soon died.

Later the friend asked the farmer why he had planted the tree in such a poor place."What"s thedifference?" the farmer said angrily. "If I had planted the tree near the road, strangers wouldhave stolen the fruit.

If I had planted the tree in one of my field, my neighbors would have come at night and stolensome of the apples. If I had planted it near my house, my own children would have taken thefruit.

"Yes," said the friend, "but at least someone could have enjoyed the fruit. Now you not onlyhave robbed everyone of the fruit, but also you have destroyed a good apple tree!"

For months I hinted that I needed a new wedding ring, since I had developed an allergy to gold. On my birthday, while I was gardening, my husband asked me for gift suggestions. I held my hands up and said, "Well, you‘ll notice that my hands are bare."

Later that evening I opened my present with enthusiasm. "Happy birthday," he said, as I unwrapped a new pair of gardening gloves.

那晚和朋友说过一句矫情的话:繁华落尽,一切归于平静。其实我错了,我并没有繁华可以落尽,但却已经归于平静。平静,才是心最终的归宿。万籁俱静,听到自己的心跳,不急不缓,着才是最真实的存在。我问朋友何为安全感,他说:不存在的存在。或许,那一刻我顿悟了。所谓安全感,就是你对生活的笃信。当你睁开眼惶恐的看着这个世界时,你心中便莫名的害怕,害怕失去,抑或害怕拥有。然而,因为害怕失去,就把拥有紧紧拽在手里,因为害怕拥有,就让失去变成永恒。手中沙,无论你是握紧还是松手,总有一天会全部流走。所有的握紧都是徒劳,而松手又有什么遗憾?见之不见,心之所见;

The Lion, The Bear And The Fox

Long ago a lion and a bear saw a kid. They sprang upon it at the same time. The lion said to the bear, “I caught this kid first, and so this is mine.”

"No, no," said the bear.“I found it earlier than you, so this is mine.” And they fought long and fiercely. At last both of them got very tired and could no longer fight.

A fox who hid himself behind a tree not far away and was watching the fight between the lion and the bear, came out and walked in between them, and ran off with the kid.

The lion and the bear both saw the fox, but they could not even catch the fox.

The lion said to the bear, “We have fought for nothing. That sly fox has got the kid away.”

One day a wolf saw a goat on a high cliff. He was jumping to and fro and was grazing.

The wolf wanted to eat him, but he could not climb up there to catch him. So he said to the goat, “Good morning, my good friend Goat! Come down here!

If you slip down the cliff, you will break your neck. And the grass is short and dry up there. Come down! The grass is long and tender here.”

“Thank you, Mr. Wolf, but never mind. I am used to playing here, and I like the grass here better. I would rather eat dry grass than be eaten by a wolf,” said the goat.

A big一city lawyer was representing the railroad in a lawsuit filed by an old rancher. The rancher"s prize bull was missing from the section through which the railroad passed. The rancher claimed that the bull must have been hit by the train, and wanted o be paid the fair value of the bull.

The case was scheduled to be tried before the justice of the peace in the back room of the general store. As soon as the rancher showed up, the attorney for the railroad pulled him aside and tried to get him to settle out of court. The lawyer did his best selling job, and finally the rancher agreed to take half of what he was asking. After the rancher had signed the release and took the check, the young lawyer couldn’t resist gloating a little over his success, telling the rancher, "You know, I hate to tell you this, old man,but I put one over on you in there. I couldn’t have won the case. The engineer was asleep and the fireman was in the caboose when the train went through your ranch that morning. I didn’t have one witness to put on the stand. I bluffed you!”

The old rancher replied,"Well,I’11 tell you, young Teller, I was a little worried about winning that case myself, because that darned bull came home this morning.”
